Our Story
Hello! My name is Gary & I am the owner of Focal-Paint. I started in the painting industry in 2006 working for my father & ventured out on my own shortly after I met my wife Malea in 2014. We were married in 2021 & had our daughter 2023. Today, Malea runs the office side of things & I manage the projects with my team as well as provide all our in-person & digital quotes. We have all our own in-house employees & DO NOT subcontract our work to other painting contractors. Our last hire was over 6 years ago, with many of my employees coming over from my father's company (our longest tenured employee has been with my family since 1986). Over past 12 years, Focal-Paint has completed thousands of residential & commercial projects throughout the area. We are licensed & insured & offer a full list of references, actual customer testimonials, & thousands of pictures of our work. We have always been a word-of-mouth business, but as we have grown it has become increasingly clear that we need to create an online presence & recently made the decision to build a website & create a google page. We can paint your walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets, shelves, etc. with thousands of different colors from a number of different vendors in a number of different finishes such flat, matte, satin, eggshell, semi-gloss, high gloss, etc.

Now our biggest seller! This three day process includes: Removing all of the doors, drawer faces & hardware, de-glossing the finish, priming, applying two coats of a urethane finish, & then reinstalling all of the doors, drawer faces & hardware. All of the cabinet doors will be sprayed at my shop & all the inner parts that are stationary will be painted with a texture free velour roller. This is so we do not need to spray in you home & everything will dry the same. Additionally, the urethane is self-leveling, which also minimizes heavy texture. Cabinet doors will be sprayed in our personal shop & then reinstalled on the third day.
Drywall Repair
We always spackle all cracks, holes, nail-pops, etc. prior to painting. Then sand & repeat if necessary. We can also hang, tape & finish new drywall as well. Want your uneven drywall or old plaster perfect? We offer level 1-5 skim coating, meticulously building layers of spackle to create a flat surface.
Custom Staining
We can strip & stain any old or new oak, poplar, or pine wood on railings, staircases, floors & cabinets. We can also paint over stain after we prime it was an oil-based primer.
Wallpaper Removal
Using a mix of water, vinegar, lemon juice & baking soda we can removal any wallpaper no matter age or condition. Then we remove the glue & skim coat the surface with spackle.
POPCORN CEILING REMOVAL
We cover your belongings with multiple layers of plastic, soak 5 foot sections of the ceiling at a time, wait 5 minutes & then scrape away exposing the drywall underneath. We then skim 1-2 coats of plastic to make the surface smooth.

We offer exterior painting services on siding, trim, doors, decks, metal roofs, log homes, etc. no matter the age, no matter the condition. We also have an in-house carpenter to repair or replace any rotted wood.
Pressure Washing
We pressure wash sidings, roofs, decks, sidewalks, driveways, etc.

We can hand wash all of your windows by hand no matter the size & no matter the height.

We can stain your deck or any exterior wood with a transparent, semi-transparent, or solid stain in an oil or latex base.
